History

The concept for Excalibur was conceived by Kirk Kerkorian in the early 1990s. Construction began in 1992, with the property opening its doors on June 19, 1990. Initially named simply “Excalibur,” it quickly became a prominent feature of the Las Vegas Strip due to its grandeur and medieval theme.

Design

The hotel’s exterior design was influenced by King Arthurian legend and features stone walls resembling a medieval castle. Upon entering the property, visitors are immersed in an environment inspired by Camelot, complete with stained-glass windows depicting mythical creatures and lavish furnishings. The interior is adorned with various decorations such as suits of armor, shields, and swords.

As mentioned earlier, there are three towers within Excalibur: Arthurian Tower, Merlins Avenue Tower, and the original hotel building.
